Sewing with my new brother LS2350

Growing up my grandmother tried many times to teach me how to use a sewing machine. I was never interested and never learned from her. My grandmother was a wiz with the sewing machine/ She would make beautiful, matching sundresses for my sister and I as well as the most awesome Halloween costumes of our time. I wish I had kept them all or at least had pictures to share. Of course, now I find myself regretting that I never took the time to let her teach me.

While shopping with my sister at our local Wal-Mart on Black Friday, we walked past a stack of “great buy” sewing machines. As I stood there looking at them, my head filled with ideas of all the great things I could make if only I had one! On a whim, I put one in my buggy, took it home, wrapped it, placed it under the tree with a tag that read to myself and my family. I included the family on the tag so I wouldn’t feel guilty for buying myself a Christmas present that I didn’t really need but have wanted for a long time.

Being new to using a sewing machine, I was very glad to see that it came with a DVD with instructions on how to care for and use the machine. After watching the DVD, I felt confident that I would definitely be able to conquer the art of the sewing machine, at least enough to satisfy my own need to create with this new tool. My first project turned out to be a simple sleeping bag and pillow for an American Girl doll. I did say simple! 🙂 The machine was very easy to use and ran smoothly. I am very excited to finally have my own sewing machine. Now to decide what to make next! 🙂

As for the tech specs of the machine, it is a brother LS2350 and you can read more about it on Wal-Mart’s website http://www.walmart.com/ip/Brother-LS2350-20-Stitch-Functions-Sewing-Machine/22025146
